Start a Crochet Project With What You Have

Have you ever found yourself craving to create something crochet-y but you don't want to pick up a WIP (work in progress)? I had such a hankering a few nights ago. I have a number of projects on the go, but I really needed something small, something that could give me a quick sense of gratification. So I turned to my fave knitting and crochet project search engine ... Ravelry!

There are a ton of free patterns, but once you really get into the community, you'll discover all kinds of cool rabbit holes to explore. There are links to patterns you can purchase, groups you can join, forums, websites, yarn information, how-to's. I just love it. Tons of inspiration.

Another place to find inspiration is Flickr, the photo sharing site. That's actually where I found this pattern. Someone had posted the crochet diagram. It was easy enough to follow. I simply put crochet in as a search option. Sometimes junk appears, but there was also inspiration.

So the other night I needed a quick fix. I had this yarn. I wanted to show off the variegated pattern.I searched  and found this super-cute banner, or bunting. I whipped it up, felt sleepy, and shut down for the night. Perfect bedtime project. Didn't require much concentration, and if I made a mistake, it was not the end of the world to undo what I'd done.

It's a sweet little banner that would look cute as a window valance, with or without a window treatment. Looking forward to making more of these.

What do you think? Oh, and if you are on Ravelry, I'm user 'lacecrochet'. Add me.
